I've had sharp pains in the front of my neck, sides, and underneath my jaw. stiffness of these parts as well. could this be connected to my tmj?

Yes it could be: Tmd is a "collective term embracing a number of clinical problems that involve the masticatory musculature, the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) and associated structures, or both. In addition to tmd, musculoskeletal pain in the orofacial area can arise from the cervical spine and those rheumatic and collagen diseases that affect the masticatory system and cervical spine. Rec.
