Talk to your doctor: Chronic depression may sometimes require long term or even lifetime antidepressant medication. If you are doing well on your current medication, consider adding some physical activity to your daily routines to help with both your weight and physical well being. However, if your weight gain is caused by your medication, ask your doctor what other treatment options are available for you.

2nd opinion: There are many options for treatment of depression. It can be chronic and fluctuate, but between therapy and appropriate medication should be able to get some decrease in symptoms. If you are not already seeing a psychiatrist you need one with extensive knowledge of psychopharmacology. Good luck. Feel better.
