Not Sure: Hard to say what is going on. If you had no symptoms when you went to bed, but awoke with swelling, i would be concerned. You can try ice and elevation along with ibuprofen. Things like a lot of salt intake, or overuse could cause this type of problem, but if it persists, get it checked out to rule out arthritis.
