All depends: There are cosmetic dentistry alternatives to orthodontic treatment to achieve a straight looking smile. However, without tooth movement, the teeth remain where they are and "additions" to existing tooth structure are used to make them appear straight, but the unerlying natural tooth structure is still crooked.

Orthodontist: There may be other options for you such as lingual braces (tongue side of teeth), clear braces, or clear aligner treatments (e.g., invisalign). It is best to make an appointment with a licensed orthodontic specialist for an individual evaluation regarding your needs.

Veneers & Crowns: I would not recommend either one of the above mentioned treatment options for someone very young, or someone with no previous dental fillings, cavities, etc. If you have healthy, non-restored teeth, braces and invisalign options would be best. If you are older, have previous restorations, discoloration, and malalignment...Then veneers and crowns are terrific options and should be considered.
