Braces: Invisalign generally only tilts the teeth to a new position. They will return to their previous position if you do not use the invisalign retainers forever. Braces first tilts then bodily moves the tooth to the new positon. This is more stable, however if there is some movement; then a finish functional orthopedic needs to be worn.

Better?: As a general dentist who does not use invisalign but has spoken to many well respected orthodontists and sees results of both, I have some advice. Invisalign can be a great method for some patients. However, it has some limitations. Most orthodontists who use both methods, favor conventional orthodontics. That should tell you something. Many general dentists use invisalign. See comment.

Maybe Either: Clear aligners, clear braces, or lingual "invisible" braces may be options. The only way to determine what method is applicable is by getting an opinion from an orthodontic specialist to evaluate your specific situation and the pros and cons of the different options.

It Depends: It depends on your malocclusion and how bad your bite is. Invisalign is a viable option for many patients. If your orthodontist says either will work for you then you should do what's best for you. Invisalign pro's are easy cleaning of the teeth, can eat most anything and less discomfort. Invisalign negatives include they must be worn at least 22 hours per day and removed to eat and clean.

For Adults Invisalig: Generally for adults-invisalign. They are more comfortable, braces shred your lips and tongue. Nearly invisible and work faster. You do not have to change your diet, which is something that you have to do with braces there is a list of foods you can't eat. But invisalign can not fix everything. There are some bad bites that can only be treated with braces. Look into both.

Braces, hands down: Braces in the hands of a qualified orthodontic specialist are more than twice as effective as clear aligners, and usually cost less. In the hands of a general dentist, who may spend only a very small portion of his professional work day doing "orthodontics, " average level of success is commensurately compromised. If you had a broken leg would you go to your gp for a Saran wrap cast?
