Bandaid: Warm soapy water soak 15-20 min and cover with neosporin oint. And a bandaid. May eventually come off on its own in days to weeks. Keep covered so you don't snag it. See a podiatrist: First i would recommend soaking in epsom salts or salt water to help clean the area and prevent infection. Then apply an antibiotic ointment and bandage. If the nail is loose it will be painful with any pressure or movement. Very often the nail needs to be removed which is a simple procedure done after local anesthesia in a podiatrist's office. Sometimes the nail plate can be reapplied.
