A lot missing: From your story. Your surgeon knows all the details, call him/her now. It is unusual for discharge before bm, not sure if you have an peri-rectal abcess, or hemorrhoid. If you problem was rectal rather than colon, there may have been instrumentation from below, but right or transverse, not. Need to know size, nodes, and further therapy. It's ok to ask and even demand answers.
