Hard to tell: All depends on cause of infection, position of tooth and how soon you will have it removed. Antibiotics are a temporary fix to reduce swelling enough to remove tooth.

Specializes in Surgery - Oral & Maxillofacial

1-2 days.: Should occur rapidly. If symptoms actually progress despite antibiotics, call dentist ASAP. For best results with wisdom teeth, make sure you are evaluated and treated by a board certified oral & maxillofacial surgeon.
