Depends: Is there enough room for the wisdom tooth to erupt and is it oriented correctly? Sometimes if the tooth is angled or impacted, extraction is the best treatment. If the tooth can erupt, staying healthy and keeping the area clean helps. Nsai's and topical anesthetics may help. Removing the overlying gum tissue also sometimes helps.

Wisdom teeth: Try warm salt water, 1tsp salt to 8oz cup warm water, for one min. Several times a day, keep the area clean . And see a dentist for an xray, sometimes it can be an infection or another tooth and it feels like the wisdom tooth (called referred pain) don't wait.

The most common : Complaint with wisdom teeth is exactly what you are describing. In essence you are "teething" and you now understand why baby's cry! warm salt water rinse is good. Antibiotic is better. Getting the tooth evaluated and possibly removed is best. Good luck!
