Wisdom Teeth: Swollen gingiva indicates at a minimum inflammation, but can also be an infection. Cause unknown: caries, periodontal disease, trapped bacteria. There are no medications that will fix this problem, but you can take OTC NSAID's to minimize the pain and swelling until you can get an appointment to see a dentist.

Telephone: The best thing you can take is the telephone. Call a specialist Oral Surgeon for an evaluation. You can't fix this with a pill, poultice, salve, homeopathic, or snake oil.

Wisdom tooth: It is common for painful swelling around wisdom teeth. Infections occur and this needs to be treated by a dentist or oral surgeon. OTC ibuprofens can help with the pain until you can see a dentist for treatment
