Or never damage?: She may benefit from some electromyogram and nerve conduction study to see if her nerve were damaged and find out the causes... Good luck!

A numb: Leg indicates nerve problem, and that can be sensory only or also inability to move (motor). Request a neurologist to see her, she may need imaging of the spine and pelvis.

Possible : Postop hematoma after hip surgery can cause sciatic nerve compression.
