Family practice : This is normal appearance you can use alcohol on a q tip to help it dry up. Keep area clean. It falls of w/i 2 weeks. Call your family dr with any ancerns.

M.D. follow up: There is no special care needed. The area should be kept clean and dry. If there are any signs of infection such as thick discharge or redness around the rim of the umbilicus ( belly button ), please let you pediatrician know. The white area may be healing tissue.
