Could be the diaper: Diapers and snugly fit clothing can often make a "mark". If it does not go away with loose garmenting or if there are other symptoms call your pediatrician.

Unclear: Without knowing age (days) of your child difficult to say. "bruising" is most likely from remnant umbilical cord manipulation. As always with newborns checking with pediatrician is the best option.
