Biopsy: A tissue biopsy is always more accurate than a radiologic test. However, i would only recommend a breast biopsy if there is a concern with an exam and/or mammogram that is suspicious for a possible malignancy/pre-malignancy.

MRI: Mammography and ultrasound combined provide sufficient evaluation in the vast majority of patients with breast cysts and dense tissue. Mri with contrast is an excellent tool in patients in whom those tests were done and questions still remain. It is particularly useful in patients with a strong family history or genetic risk for breast cancer and dense or complex breast tissue.
