A member asked:

What can be used for milk for a toddler with fructose malabsorption and lactose intolerance?

Soy or lacaid: Lactose intolerance occurs when a kid does not make the enzyme lactase that would allow lactose absorption. Gut bacteria then digest the sugar & cause bloating and acidic stools. Lactaid milk is a product that has added the enzyme, bypassing the defect. Soy milk uses a different non lactose sugar. Avoid fruits & fruit juices for the fructose issue.

Many: Soy milk and rice milk would both be good options as long as there are no additives or sweeteners in there that could have fructose.
