Yes: If your tooth needs to be pulled and you don't get it removed, both you and your baby will suffer. There is no reason why you can't get a tooth pulled while breast feeding. Just be sure discuss this issue with your dentist. Why not call him\her even before you set up the appointment just to put your mind at ease. Congratulations on your new baby!

Yes and no.: Yes it is ok to have your tooth removed while breastfeeding. However, you should be aware that if you have IV sedation, general anesthesia or if you take pain medication afterwards that these medications can be transferred to your baby through breast milk. One solution is to do the "pump and dump" method for about 72 hours after anesthesia or taking narcotics. You can also avoid narcotics.

Tooth extraction: It the tooth needs to be pulled now, then it needs to be pulled. Let the dentist or oral surgeon know that you are breastfeeding.

Yes: As anesthetics and analgesics can appear in breast milk, make sure your dentist knows ahead of time so that the proper medication choices can be made. This may be best addressed by an oral surgeon.
