Likely muscle spasm: Consider taking Ibuprofen and moist heat to the area that hurts. A soft collar can also decrease the pain by limiting motion. See your doctor if the numbness lasts more that 2-3 days.

Vertebra prominons: Often folks with whiplash think the prominent tailbone or spinous process at C7 is abnormal. It is not. I recommend a collar, non- steroidal antiinflammatory agents and chiropractic care and or physical therapy.
