A member asked:

What are the probable long term sequelae of untreated cosmetically severe metatarus adductus in my 6 yo daughter, and why would surgery be necessary?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Metatarsus Adductus : Generally, there is an excellent outcome with out surgery, although sometimes casting is required to straighten the foot and special shoes may be worn during the day. Some cases are a consequence of congenital hip dysphasia, but im sure your doctor addressed this. Can her foot be manually stretched? Generally, the degree of flexibility or lack thereof is the determining factor.
