Before surgery, : Determine that the structure, tone & strength of the muscles of her mouth & palate are normal. Adenoidectomy increases air's escaping thru the nose during speech in kids with submucus (incomplete) clefts or velopalatal insufficiency (muscle weakness). If she can't chew with her mouth closed, her speech is unclear to strangers or her bmi is >95th %ile, seek a sleep study & neurological exam.

Confusing statement: All kids/adults have adenoids.It is part of your structure. If your kid is snoring and has developed sleep apnea, from the size of enlarged adenoids and tonsils that is a problem.These structures grow faster than the kid until the age of 8 before they stabilize.If there is worrisome apnea now it will just get worse and the kid suffer.
