A member asked:

My 7 year old daughter has acute comitant esotropia. we have to decide between surgery and botox. what do you recommend?

Depends on goal: Acute esotropia means it is of sudden onset. This usually is from a cause such as a vascular event in the brain, trauma, or tumor. Botox can relieve some of the crossed eyes in a temporary manner while the acute event resolves itself. Surgery can be held in reserve (usually for six months) until the acute event resolves and then surgery can be done if needed.
