Another thoughts: I have used ear (auricular acupuncture) for several patients before and after dental /oral surgery procedures to block pain. Dental analgesia is one use for acupuncture.

Carbocaine: Typically Carbocaine plain without Epinephrine works well in individuals sensitive to either Lidocaine and/or epinephrine.

Allergies: Many patients who are sensitive to local anesthetics for dental procedures are not allergic to the medications. They get tachycardic or anxious, with elevated blood pressure, because Epinephrine mixed inthe anesthetic entered the blood stream. The patient is then told they are allergic to the medication. This is a fallacy. Tell your anesthesiologist the full story, and you will be treated properly.

It is rare to be: allergic to lidocaine, usually it is the epinephrine that causes the reaction. But for small dermatology procedures you can actually request saline injections, where the tension fluid that allows numbing.
