Yes u can: Oral tongue cancer is very possible and serious. Most commonly it occurs in the posterior sides of the oral tongue. Oral tongue cancers usually are fast growers so they won't just have a little sore that stays the same for years. If caught early surgery is curative depending on where in the tongue and how deep it goes. More advanced tumors require radiation and chemotherapy.
