What you can get?: Although piercings are not associated with cancer, they can cause lots of other problems. Tongue barbells can chip or fracture front teeth & gums. An unscrewed barbell can be aspirated into lungs. Infections can be quite severe & eventually lead to disfigurement. There can be significant blood loss & permanent neuralgia (pain).

No: Piercings have not been associated with cancer development. Still, i would b sure that it done in as hygienic and sterile of a manner as possible as infections and some viruses can cause an increase risk of malignant transformation such as the ebv or hpv vital strains. Most people already have the hpv virus so not likely that piercing is a risk for its contagion beyond what your risk already is.
