A member asked:

What kind of medicine do you get during a csection? can you be put to sleep?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Several options: You can be put to sleep, but that is not the ideal option for your baby becasue those medications can get through to the baby and make him (or her) drowsy/sleepy when they are born, making it a bit harder for them to transition to life outside the womb. Ideal is a spinal where they numb you via your spnal cord, numbing the nerves down there much like a dentist uses to numb your mouth. Congrats!
