It doesn't grow back: The theory that endometriosis is caused by menstruation cells spilling backwards through the tubes into the pelvic cavity - sampson's theory - has been a theory held since 1935. It is, essentially a wrong theory that has misled physicians for over 70 years. More recent data indicates that it is during embryo development that endo is laid down awaiting stimulation. It is called "muellerianosis".
