Echo character: Tells very little. It is usually used to aid in finding the node to perform an aspiration. Hypechoic zone can indicate solid or fluid filled space. Size would help, but only cells, and in lymphoma, perhaps an excisional biopsy and test for gene re-arrangements would help.

Nonspecific: Hypoechoic and/or enlarged lymph nodes on ultrasound are nonspecific but usually the result of the lymph node reacting to an area of infection along the path of lymph drainage. Lymphoma and tumor spread to lymph nodes can produce the same finding. Your doctor should help narrow this down.
