You may need testing: Sounds like either a neck problem, or an intrinsic shoulder problem. Please see an orthopaedic physician as you need to determine the source of the pain. It can be a nerve irritation of the cervical spine causing neck pain with referred shoulder discomfort. Or, it can be a rotator cuff problem. Either way, an evaluation by an orthopaedic doc can help you with the diagnosis.
