Differance between locally advanced and metastatic?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Stage.: A cancer that has spread to the lymph nodes draining the area of a cancer might still be cured by surgery if all the lymph nodes can be removed along with the primary tumor, and if there is further spread of disease. This is "locally advanced." chemotherapy and/or radiation might be given after surgery to increase the cure rate. Metastatic cancer, beyond the nodes, is not curable by surgery.
