Yes: Research shows that survivors of ARDS suffer from long term impediment in cognitive function such as memory, recall, concentration. Both quality of life and functional status are affected with improvement in the first six months. Improvement after a year varies between individuals.

There can be effects: The short term sequelae includes shortness of breath especially with exertion. After pulmonary function testing, you may be a candidate for pulmonary rehab which may help with your recovery. Long term sequelae may include a defect in diffusing capacity on pfts which is often asymptomatic. Good luck and congrats on your recovery!
