A member asked:

How to treat a person with protein deficiency having gout?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

See your doctor: If there is an underlying medical reason for your protein deficiency, medical treatment will be in order. If it is due to malnutrition or crash dieting, getting the right protein in the diet and/or supplementation might help. It is controversial, but in patients who do not take in enough protein and/or calories, muscle catabolism takes place before burning fat.
