Needs medication: Only a few gout patients can control their attacks by diet. The rest need a medication like allopurinol to lower the uric acid level to 6.0 or less. Treatment is highly successful but requires lifetime therapy.

Your cousin: has to see he doctor , to reduce the blood uric acid levels. Gout is a serious systemic disease , can cause major problems by depositing uric acid in blood vessels in critical areas.Tell your cousin drink plenty of fluids to hydrate well , help to prevent an attack
