Possibly: Assuming that you have no other antecedent events, and had a coughing spell, this pain could be musculoskeletal, i.e. Muscle strain, since vigorous coughing does utilize abdominal and chest wall muscles. However if it was preceded by other events, such as vomiting, abdominal pain, swallowing a foreign object such as a fish bone, falling, etc., then if the pain worsens, you should see your md.
