What is the cause and treatment for clear fluid ear drainage?

CSF?: When i hear clear fluid from the ear, i worry about spinal fluid leaking through a hole in one's eardrum. If that is the case, this needs to be fixed surgically. Depending on location and size, it can be done through an ear surgery (transmastoid) or needs to be done through a craniotomy.
