Possible: Visibillity to the naked eye would be more about the size of the lesion rather than the grade. One can see characteristics with the use of the colposcope that help further classify it, but to confirm the diagnosis one would need a biopsy.

Not always seen : Most diagnoses of cervical dysplasia are made with a colposcope and a treated cervix with various agents. A trained observer can make an educated assessment of the degree of dysplasia. A pathology report from a biopsy is essential.
