Muscle damage?: Creatine phosphokinase (CPK) is an enzyme that can be found in the heart, brain and skeletal muscle. A high level of CPK is not a good sign and is an indicator of heart attacks, strokes and other serious diseases. However some prescription drugs and other substances can cause levels of CPK to increase.

Yes: Yes there is probably a connection and yes see your doctor. Medications such as statins for cholesterol can cause this. But if you are not on medication then you should see a rheumatologist to make sure you don't have inflammation of muscles and check your inflammatory markers. If you are on cholesterol medications then they should be stopped immediately and you should take coenzyme q10.
