Recently i was diagnosed with a hern disk at l5/s1. most of the acute symptoms have gone away after 6 weeks except for soreness in my left calf. should i try steroids or injections or will this go away?

Treat leg not back: Treatment should only be based on pain levels and functional status, not on the anatomical/mri state of your spine. If the left calf pain is minor, then simply wait for it to fade. If it is troublesome, then physical therapy followed by epidural steroid injection are the options. But a pinched nerve does heal with time even by itself.
