A member asked:

Dr. prescribed ultram and soma for chronic back pain, when needed, just recently he put me on zoloft (sertraline). safe to take together or which combo to avoid.

Ultram & Zoloft (sertraline): Both raise serotonin & potentially could cause serotonin syndrome--however in my experience this is a rare event.

Drug interaction: It is not recommended to mix tramadol with antidepressants such as zoloft (sertraline) due to increased risk of developing serotonin syndrome. Soma and zoloft (sertraline) can cause drowsiness. Please talk to your doctor before taking these medications together.
