Serotonin syndrome: Combination of tramadol and ssri's (e.g. Zoloft) may cause a reaction known as serotonin syndrome, which may have serious negative health consequences. This is rarely encountered, but only the prescribing doctor can decide if the two are safe to take by the same individual.

2 possible problems.: Tramadol and Zoloft (sertraline) are both serotonergic drugs; combining them increases your risk of "serotonon syndrome." In addition, Zoloft (sertraline) will usually increase blood levels of tramadol if they are taken together. So be very careful if you decide to take them both at once for days or more at a time. Occassional, as needed use of the tramadol while on Zoloft (sertraline) is likely o.k.
