Not that uncommon: I have known some people who have complained about being too activated by taking Percocet and can't take it for just that reason. It might be true with other opioid medication as well. Sometimes it is possible to find a different opioid that will work, but you might also find that you can manage your pain using nsaids (like Motrin or aleve) or Acetaminophen (tylenol).

This can happen: I don't know which pain meds you are on, but i will assume it's an opioid of some type. Some people take opioids and feel very awake afterwards. I suspect this is what is happening to you. It is not common.
