Alcohol: There is no test for parkinson's - the diagnosis is made based on symptoms and examination. In addition to tremor, stiffness, low rate of blinking are some other findings. In younger people with tremor the most common cause is benign essential or familiar tremor. It usually stops with alcohol, but instead of taking up drinking, ask your md for a prescription for a beta blocker, such as inderal (propranolol).

Parkinson's disease: The most important tool to diagnose parkinson's disease is the history and physical examination. Pd diagnosis continues to be a clinical diagnosis. Rigidity, decreased arm swing and slow movements can be noticed on the exam. Response to medication, postural imbalance and shuffling of gait, facial expression may also help in the diagnosis. New test dat scan helps to sort some cases et from pd.
