A member asked:

Is it possible that 1 eye drop will control eye pressure for years or more likely that a 2nd drop will need to be added in the future?

Possible: In a 58 year old person with primary open angle glaucoma, the chances are about 50% that one type of eye drop will control the pressure for at least ten years.

Depends: Glaucoma is a complex disease. The goal of treatment is to lower pressure to the "goal pressure." the goal pressure is established by evaluation of the amount of damage that has already occurred from glaucoma, risk factors etc. How many eye drops it takes to reach the goal pressure varies, and there is no good way to predict how many drops are required at a given age.
