Add on BP medication: You need to see a doctor to have additional add on medication prescribed. All bp meds can be taken with valium. Have you asked the doctor who gave the metropolol if more medication is needed for BP control? If another agent is needed i would suggest an ace-i or an arb. Speak to you doctor to have these drugs' actions explained to you and see if more BP control is needed.

BP meds: There are many classes of BP medications out there and some of them have extra benefits in other chronic conditions like diabetes, kidney & cardiovascular diseases, etc. If your BP is uncontrolled, a doctor who knows your history, allergies, and other meds can help determine which BP medication would be most appropriate to add in your specific circumstance. Watch the salt intake. All the best!
