When should i start rinsing after tooth extraction?

Not for 24 hours: Do not rinse after an extraction for 24 hrs. You need to protect the clot that fills the socket and protects the bone. The rinse motion, suction from straws, or spitting may dislodge the clot and expose the bone. Dry socket may follow. Leave the site alone for the 24 hr period then you may rinse gently with hot salt water for 30 sec.

7 days: Never rinse with anything within 3-7 days. If you do, you can wash away the healing blood clot and get a "dry socket". This is when the bone is no longer covered with the blood clot (therefore now it is dry) and there is now nothing to regerate the new bone.
