Decades of Training: Your surgeon will first have to ensure that your symptoms are coming from the pathology you mentioned. There are various ways of figuring this out. Surgery is only recommended as last resort after failure of non-surgical treatments including pt, nsaids, epidural injections. Typically surgery is not a good option if you only have back pain, or if the disc is not pushing on a nerve.
