My 3 year old has a cold. she is coughing a lot. is there anything that i can give her that is safe for her age?

Honey: Over the counter cough medications are not indicated for a child that age. The safest and most effective treatment still is honey. A spoonful in a cup of hot tea can be quite soothing.

Symptomatic care: Take her the washroom and steam her several times a day. Use vaporizer or humidifier at night. Use vapo rub on chest. If nose is running use salt water nose drops. If running fever consult your doctor.
