COLD/COUGH OTC MEDS:: There are a lot of different cold, cough suppressant, decongestant medications over the counter. It is better to avoid these meds for small kids because of side effects. Some cough is good, it brings mucous out of upper ; lower respiratory tract. If too much runny nose, simple Benadryl (diphenhydramine) is ok. If cough is more, disturb sleeping, eating, makes the child exhausted, better check with his pediatrician.
