A 29-year-old female asked:

I was in er and total protein as 8.1, went back 2 days later it was 9.2, had labs done 2days later it was 8.7. both to er were anxiety. worried?

See below: Time to find a pcp who can provide u with continuity of care. Doc can discuss options for treating anxiety: exercise, stress management, meditation, yoga, tai chi, biofeedback, meds. Pcp can also follow up on blood work results. Isolated numbers without context not very helpful. Mild elevations in total protein can be seen with dehydration, but many other possible causes.

Other labs ok?: Values can change with hydration status. If other labs were ok, and you were cleared by docs in er, likely not an issue. Follow up with your doc.
