Orthopedic question: chronic knee pain how can that happen. how long after knee surgery can one get arthritis if it wasn't present during surgery?

Years: It's not uncommon to develop osteoarthritis a couple of years after knee surgery- partially because of the injuries that led to the need for surgery and partially, at times, due to surgery itself that can change the biomechanics of the knee (i.e., meniscus removal). The knee has 3 "compartments" with one being the patellofemoral. (behind the kneecap). The pf joint is a common source of pain.

Ch knee Pain: Chronic pain in knee is commonly due to osteoarthritis , traumatic arthritis , inflammatory arthritis , gout etc. It is not related to surgery unless there is some damage. It takes many years ( 10-15 ) to develop.
