A member asked:

Are hemorhagic strokes the type you have from endocarditis?

Yes, very risky: Bacterial endocarditis results in valvular infection that promotes septic emboli, which may go to brain causing a mycotic aneurysm. If uncontrolled the blood vessel ruptures with secondary local hematoma. A great reason for avoiding anti-coagulants in bacterial endocarditis.

Embolic: Hemorrhagic strokes are due to bleeding in the head, not typical of endocarditis. Endocarditis is more likely to produce and embolic stroke when a piece of the infectous aera breaks free and goes to the brain.
