Quite possible: Polycystic ovarian syndrome is a poor name for this disorder. The name comes from the fact that there are multiple immature follicles, tiny cysts that contain eggs on the ovaries. However the symptoms of the syndrome are problems with ovulation and excess male hormone. The presence of an ovarian cyst or even multiple cysts has nothing to do with pcos.

Curious: Women with pcos would have many cysts on the ovaries. You should discuss this with your doctor.
